Brussels Field Trip
Why Visiting Our Clients in Person Matters More Than Ever
- Markus Pichorner
You can get a lot done over Google Meet, but nothing replaces a real handshake, a shared espresso, or seeing where your clients actually work and thrive.
At the end of May, we flew to Brussels to visit two of our clients. We filmed for one and simply connected in person with the other, and both parts of the trip felt equally valuable.
More Than Just a Shoot
Our main mission: to film content for a client we’ve been working with remotely for quite a while. But this time, we wanted to go deeper.
Being there on-site allowed us to:
-
Capture real context: B-roll in their actual work environment, behind-the-scenes, spontaneous moments.
-
Film authentic interviews: In person, people open up more. You feel it in the footage.
-
Understand their culture: The energy of the team, their space, the way they work — you can’t get that through email.
The Power of Just Showing Up
The second part of the trip wasn’t about cameras at all. We met up with another client just to talk, share plans, and build the relationship.
No agenda. No pitch. Just genuine conversation over dinner.
And honestly? That time was just as valuable. It reminded us how important in-person relationships are, especially in a digital business.
What We Took Home
-
Hours of high-quality footage
-
A better understanding of our clients’ needs and vision
-
A stronger personal connection that made future work smoother and more collaborative
-
And yes, a few Belgian beers and way too much chocolate
TL;DR
We travelled to Brussels to film for one client and connect in person with another. It wasn’t just about the content, it was about trust, context, and human connection. Sometimes, showing up is the work.
